Originally from the small town of Galway, NY (near Saratoga), I currently live in Buffalo, NY.  I'm a community pharmacist  I  graduated from the University of Buffalo School of Pharmacy with my pharmD in 2007 and my PhD in 2011. I'm married and have 2 dogs (Sadie, a lab, and Ralphie, a Eskie mix).  We enjoy anything outdoors from Backpacking and hiking to snowboarding.

Mid week long run before work.  10 miles, paced at like 7:50.  I've been making an effort to get up and run before work.  Getting up at 6 sucks, getting the run done is good.

Ugh, long run after work.  Went to a new bike path to scope it out.  It's seriously an 8 mile long straight line that is dead flat.  It was a cold, wet run and it was dark when I got done.  Boo.  Felt good overall but my left ITB is still a little wonky.  Average pace: 7:40 with the last 2 miles a bit faster

did 2 on the treadmill before bed.  I wanted to do more but I was just eh and my knee was eh so I aborted.

 

On the super exciting note, Boston 2013 is official as of Sept 23rd!!  Hoping to run sub 3, but not super thrilled about winter long runs in upstate NY

Boy, I almost bagged it before work this morning but I couldn't fall back to sleep so I was out the door.  Did 7 at a nice comfortable pace at the a park (Pace: 7:30).  Knee felt ok so that's good.

 

On a center of attention note:  I decided to create a photo blog of my running/life/anything else.  I'll probably be mundane but maybe I'll hit it big and get to go on Ellen and we'll dance on stage!

Long run with my friend.  Ran 3.5 down to meet her (7:50 pace).  Ran 5 with her around the cemetery (8:06s) then back home 4.5 (7:35 pace).  Felt pretty good in general

Mid-week long run (10 miles) before work.  Tried to run it a little faster since I've been doing a lot of easy runs.  After a warm-up I kept the miles below 7:30 and ended with a 7:05 mile.  Felt good despite my knee bothering me

5 miles with sadie.  Easy pace (7:50s)

 I've been having a lot of issues with my left ITB which was really making me concerned and just bugging me in general.  Some days it would be great and some days it would hurt after 4 miles.  So I was icing, rolling, and stretching.  My shoes (Brooks Ravenna) had about 275 miles on them so I got a new pair of Brooks Adrenaline to start to rotate in.  I used them today and instantly all my knee pain went away.  It was like some magical thing.  Not sure if it's the Ravenna to Brooks switch or just that the Ravennas were beat but I don't care!

Long run with a friend again!

Ran down to meet her and we ran a loop of the cemetery before dropping her off and heading home.  Paced it out to 7:45 with the middle 5 being around 8:10s

Had to make up a couple runs so I ran a double today

AM: 5 miles real easy (8:10s)

PM: 5 miles easy again (with sadie)

Wore my Ravennas in the morning and my Adrenalines for the PM run.  Guess which run made my knee sore!

We had our year end track meet for our running club.  I decided to run a 400 and partake in the 4x800 relay (with teams made by the coach to try to get equal finish times)

Did a 2 mile warm up

400m open:  Went out too fast and held on to run 64.8.  I started in lane 3 and made up the stagger by 150m (so way too fast!).  I had my friend hot on my tail and I had to hold him off So painful and my legs felt like jello the last 50m.  Not my fastest 400 (I was around 61 in HS with a 63 400IM hurdles) but pretty good seeing as I had no race specific training.

 4x800 relay:  Our team decided that I was to be anchor.  Not sure of my split time, probably about 2:40.  I was still hurting from the 400.  I got the baton with our team in second and 1st had about 150 m on me and I couldn't catch him.  Lost by 20 seconds.  Our team ran 11:34, not bad

mid week long run.  Kinda rough to start but I loosened up and felt good towards the end.  

I'm getting really good at this running before work thing.  Waking up at 6am is pretty easy now and if I try to go back to sleep for lack of motivation I feel guilty and I'm out the door by 6:30.  I like it!

Long Run:  Did not want to but I had to do it today instead of Sunday.  Went to the bike path to do it in the cold and the rain (YUCK). Felt good so I decided to push the pace a little to see how my legs were.  Averaged 7:26 miles with really even splits.  I was surprised by how well it went but I think some of it was running faster so I could get done
